Director: Christine Jeffs
Cast: – Amy Adams, Emily Blunt, Alan Arkin, Jason Spevack, Steve Zahn, Chloe, and this guy
Stuff you need to know: A film with an “Indie” feel… not sure that it actually is. Falls in the same category as Garden State and Elizabethtown. It also is made by the same folks who did Little Miss Sunshine. The over arching theme deals with death.
Who SHOULD see it:
– Those who appreciate good acting
– People who like stories about “real” people
– Indie film fans
– Amy Adams fans
Who should NOT see it:
– People looking for a light hearted, no brainer flick
– If you don’t deal well with death
– If you have lost anyone to suicide
– If you are more righteous than others
What I think: Well made. Incredibly acted. Fascinating characters. Strong and interesting story. If you can are able to look past some of the language, a couple of sex scenes, and the reality that a lot of people live this way, you will see that this film is pretty darn good. The humor is the dry kind and it is certainly not everyone’s taste. All in all, this movie might actually be important to see on some level. I think it might be a good dose of reality.
Mandy’s Point System: Alan Arkin adds 5 points to any scale, so… Fantastic + 5.
Would you buy it: maybe.
